What do a Leclerc main battle tank and the Paris National Opera have in common? The continuation of politics by other means! The Culture and Influences study group explores the different layers of soft power, a concept that encompasses the ability of political players to influence other people’s behaviour in non-coercive ways such as reputation, attractiveness, stature or appeal.

Masterpieces created by our artists or star-studded Chefs, great couturiers, computer games designers… are indeed powerful catalysts for change and need to be conceived as diplomatic leverage.

The study group intends to enrich interactions between culture and defence.
