Maxence LOISEL, international delegate for the United Kingdom at Les Jeunes IHEDN
My favourite quote :
“I believe the best antibody is the defense spirit and patriotism” (Pierre de Villiers, Servir, 2017)
Presentation of the delegation :
The United Kingdom is Europe’s second-largest economy and military power. The country is a permanent member at the security Council of the United Nations and also possesses the nuclear giving the United Kingdom a global influence.
Currently facing a surge of activity while being permanently or punctually deployed on operations and international exercises, its armed forces seem to be stretched too thin and underfunded to fulfill all of its missions and to prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.
Despite our historically conflictual past and current political context, France and the United-Kingdom are now great allies. Our two countries even signed in 2010 the Lancaster House Treaties settling a steady cooperation between our military forces and attesting our strong ties.
The members from Les Jeunes IHEDN in the UK are young professionals and students coming from a variety of sectors which enriches our discussions and activites. Through local partnerships and with local associations and authorities we try our best to bring together the youth around events such as ceremonies, conferences, visits, afterworks and others all throughout the year.
What Les Jeunes IHEDN means to me :
I fully recognize myself in the values and objectives of the association. Indeed, Les Jeunes IHEDN through its numerous events is directly contributing to raise awareness on defense topics whilst strengthening the essential link between the civilian and military spheres. I truly believe these are essential for our country and society. Hence, taking responsibilities in the association is for me the opportunity to contribute humbly in reinforcing it and to be a part of a highly motivated, devoted and passionate community.
